Research Spotlight returns to highlight a paper co-authored by Jules van Binsbergen, Jonas Peeters, and Jessica Wachter, all members of the Wharton Finance department. Published in the Journal of Finance: Early View, “Is the United States a Lucky Survivor? A Hierarchical Bayesian Approach” analyzes the impact of survivorship bias in US equity market performance.

The authors used international data in part from Finaeon (formerly Global Financial Data) to inform their analysis. Finaeon provides a variety of exportable, historical financial and economic data, including total return data on stocks, bonds, and bills, interest and exchange rates, bond and commodity indices and prices, and more.

For more information on using Finaeon, contact a Lippincott librarian.
