Two new ebook collections : British Archaeological Reports and Archaeopress

BAR Logo

British Archaeological Reports (BAR) and Archaeopress are two Oxford-based publishers that have built their reputation on publishing relatively quick, inexpensive, yet scholarly monographs, conference proceedings, reports, and - in Archaeopress's case - journals on archaeology and archaeological sciences worldwide. Recently, both publishers launched digital collections, Archaeopress on its own digital platform and BAR books on the UMichigan Publishing's Fulcrum platform. After trials over the summer 2020, Penn Libraries has signed 3-year agreements to purchase perpetual access to all the old titles and their newly published titles as e-books.

The Archaeopress Institutional Digital Subscription offers Penn students, faculty, and staff access to over 450 e-books with 6-12 new e-books released monthly and 8 e-journals, including the Journal of Greek Archaeology, Proceedings of the Seminar for Arabian Studies, Journal of Hellenistic Pottery and Material Culture, Ash-sharq : Bulletin of the Ancient Near East, Aramazd : Armenian Journal of Near Eastern Studies, Koinon : The International Journal of Classical Numismatic Studies, Offa's Dyke Journal, and Ex Novo : Journal of Archaeology. The platform provides convenient access to Archaeopress's open-access publications as well.

The BAR Digital Collection offers over 3000 e-books, and 500 more e-books should be available in the next few months. The collection includes all the volumes from the BAR International Series and BAR British Series as well as their subseries titles.  Currently, there is a delay in being able to download 2020 and 2021 titles, which will be resolved by middle of 2021, but new publications are available for viewing online.
