Instructional Assistance
Library staff provide one-on-one consultations, workshops, and webinars on navigating bioinformatics databases, platforms, tools, and file formats.
Bioinformatics leverages computational tools and methodologies to decipher the complex language of biological data, driving advancements in healthcare and medicine. Through the Penn Libraries, researchers can get individualized support and access biological data repositories, data visualization software, and secondary literature.
The Penn Libraries' services supplement the work of several Research Cores on campus, such as BIC (the Bioinformatics Core of the Institute for Biomedical Informatics) and ITMAT (Institute for Translational Medicine and Therapeutics), which address high-end bioinformatics needs for biomedical researchers at the University of Pennsylvania.
Members of the Penn community interested in bioinformatics support at the Libraries can take advantage of the following services.
Library staff provide one-on-one consultations, workshops, and webinars on navigating bioinformatics databases, platforms, tools, and file formats.
Our team can give high-level overviews on how to structure workflows for NGS data analysis and display.
Library staff offer consultations on effectively displaying data for publications and presentations, as well as a Data Visualization Basics workshop offered on a semesterly basis.
