FAQs

Can I renew anything I have borrowed?

Materials borrowed from other libraries, recalled books, New Books, books from the Bestsellers collection, course reserves, and other items from outside Penn’s regular collection are not eligible for renewal. Check your Shelf listing under "Renewable?" to confirm whether an item is eligible for renewal.

How many times can I renew my books?

There are no renewal limits for current Penn students, faculty, and staff. However, videos may be renewed only once.

I got a recall notice. What is that?

A recall notice means that the item borrowed is needed for course reserves. Such an item must be returned by the recall due date.

All loaned items are eligible for potential recall by an instructor for course reserves, even items borrowed from another institution.

If you are leaving campus for a period of time, please return your library books prior to leaving, or make arrangements to have them returned on your behalf to the library should they be recalled while you are away.
