Karin's work centers on applying data science methods to get a deeper understanding of library services.  She supports the data warehouse Metridoc, which compiles data from a number of library-wide services.  Karin is also involved in exploratory analyses to investigate and develop new services.

At Penn Libraries, efore becoming the Business Intelligence Architect for the Impact Assessment and Organizational Analysis Division, Karin was the 2020 Bollinger Fellow. 

Karin graduated from St. Olaf College in 2008 with a double major in Physics and Mathematics. Then, she continued her education with a PhD in High Energy Physics at Stony Brook University, received for work on the T2K experiment in Tokai-Mura, Japan. From there she worked at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago on the PROSPECT Experiment, a reactor neutrino experiment, and at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada on the SNO and SNO+ experiments, searching for solar neutrinos.
