Steve Scaduto

Working closely with his talented colleagues across Learning Enrichment, Steve creates programs that are driven by students and foster evidence of creating spaces where one is seen, welcomed, and heard -- and dare he say exploration, fun with a touch of weirdness. He plays a role in aiding students in exploring academic success, community, wellness, while creating a third space as he engages with the Libraries, the Penn and local communities, and broader world.

Steve came to Penn from Temple University’s Klein College of Media and Communication, where he advised a plethora of populations of students on academic, professional, and personal goals as an advisor. He was also the Director of Academic Services and the Minik Writers Studio at Moore College of Art & Design where he provided academic support to all BFA and graduate students, overseeing The Writers Studio and Peer Tutoring program, Bridge program, and teaching first-year writing within the Writing Program. He provided leadership development in Moore’s honors leadership program and coordinated accommodations and services for students with documented learning disabilities. Additionally, Steve has taught Intensive Writing and provided academic support at Curtis Institute of Music and held positions at the University of the Arts including Director of Student Development and Activities where he focused on creating vision planning initiatives and learning labs for students to develop personal and program management skills.

Steve holds a B.A. in English and an M. Ed. in English Education from Temple University. He also earned a Teaching English as a Second Language Certificate from Drexel University. In December of 2022, Steve completed a certificate in Disability Studies at Temple University where the focus was on culture, policy, action research, and intersecting identities. Currently, Steve is pursuing his MSW at Penn's Social Policy & Practice (SP2) where he strives to create an environment where students can focus on community care and vision planning.  Much of his academic interests and practice explores creating welcoming spaces for neurodivergent students where they can scaffold self-advocacy.
