Martina Mampieri reflects on her internship as part of the AJL/JTS Librarian Certificate program. Her internship focused on transcribing the writings and correspondence of Rabbi Sabato Morais and learning about workflows for transcription using AI and crowdsourcing tools. Morais was an Italian-American rabbi of Portuguese descent, leader of Mikveh Israel Synagogue in Philadelphia, pioneer of Italian Jewish Studies in America, and founder of the Jewish Theological Seminary, which initially acted as a center of education for Orthodox Rabbis.
