The Libraries’ collection from Hakim's provides insight into decades of readership in Black West Philadelphia and serves a unique research purpose.

Many of the newspapers are from the mid-20th century and many are from small cities and towns.

This database includes complete runs of some of the most impactful Black newspapers of the 20th century, archives from major civil rights organizations, government documents, and more.

These three major art publications are now available to the Penn community as online, full color searchable image databases.
