Welcome to Metals & Jewelry!
Step into the world of metalworking with this hands-on, beginner-friendly workshop. You’ll learn key safety practices while exploring the fundamentals of using a hydraulic press, jeweler’s saw, and flex shaft rotary tool. Guided by a unique theme, you’ll work with base metals—using impression dies to create a unique pendant/keychain that’s entirely your own.

Learning Goal:
Develop fine motor skills and design thinking.

Learning Outcome:
By the end of the workshop, students will be able to design, plan, and fabricate an original jewelry piece using base metals and a hydraulic press, demonstrating effective material selection, hands-on technical skills, and intentional design decision-making.

This workshop is part of our Re/Make History exhibit in partnership with the Penn Museum Library
