Welcome to Metals & Jewelry!
Join us for a hands-on introduction to the art of metalworking. In this beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll learn essential safety practices and master the basics of using a rolling mill with design patterns, along with a ring former, to craft your own coiled ring in copper.

Learning Goal:
Develop fine motor skills and design thinking.

Learning Outcome:
By the end of the workshop, students will be able to design, plan, and fabricate an original jewelry piece using base metals and a rolling mill, demonstrating effective material selection, hands-on technical skills, and intentional design decision-making.

This workshop is part of our Re/Make History exhibit in partnership with the Penn Museum Library. It’s a unique opportunity to connect with the museum’s collections through creative, tactile exploration—bringing history to life, one handmade piece at a time.
