Access to the College Green area of campus will be restricted until further notice. PennCard holders and some Penn affiliates may enter and exit Van Pelt-Dietrich Library Center through the Rosengarten Undergraduate Study Center on the ground floor, and may enter and exit the Fisher Fine Arts Library through the 34th Street entrance to Meyerson Hall. Food and Drink in History

Food and Drink in History is a collection of primary source materials which illustrate the deep links between food and identity, politics and power, gender, race and socio-economic status, as well as charting key issues around agriculture, nutrition and food production.

The resource includes key material from archives and libraries in the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia. Researchers will be able to study a wide range of food cultures and traditions from across the globe in this collection.  Scholars can explore printed and manuscript cookbooks, government papers, company reports, periodicals, advertising reports, marketing research papers, correspondence and ephemera to discover the evolution of food and drink within everyday life and the public sphere.

This collection adds content and context to the already extraordinary collections of culinary arts and cookery held by the Kislak Center for Special Collections as well as digital collections such as the Federal Government’s Records of the Children’s Bureau.
