Zilberman Family Center for Global Collections renovation project
The fifth floor of the Van Pelt-Dietrich Library Center is currently under construction, part of our major, year-long renovation project to create a dedicated, state-of-the-art space for the Zilberman Family Center for Global Collections.
While construction is in progress, the majority of the fifth floor is closed to visitors, including all Penn students, faculty, and staff. Two study areas on the floor remain open: the Reading Room for Graduate Students and the Kislak Study Hallway.
Circulating and reference collections are still available. Browse the catalog to find books in the Zilberman Center collections and request delivery to any Penn Libraries location. You can also visit the 4th floor to find books in the Zilberman Center Seminar Room Collections.
Summer 2026 microform move
Throughout the summer of 2026, Penn Libraries staff are moving the microfilm collection held in the Class of 1963 Microtext Center to our offsite storage facility, LIBRA, where it will be properly cataloged, barcoded, and safely stored. Learn how to request these materials during the move.
Ongoing restoration at Fisher Fine Arts Library
The iconic Anne and Jerome Fisher Fine Arts Library, a significant architectural landmark, will celebrate its 135th anniversary in 2026. To preserve this historic brick and terra cotta structure for future generations, a comprehensive exterior restoration project is planned. This critical 20-month undertaking will run from spring 2025 through fall 2026.
As part of this effort, the Fisher Fine Arts Library will be closed Thursday, July 23 and Friday, July 24. Alternate quiet study areas are available at library locations across campus.
Find more details about this important preservation effort on our dedicated project page.
